Advanced Marketing (830311 & 2)

Honors Option (830321 & 2)

Advanced Marketing is for the student who is seriously considering a career in the field of marketing. Students who take the course will study the functions of marketing including distribution, financing, marketing information management, selling, promotion, pricing and product/service planning. Students will also study the character traits necessary to become successful both personally and professionally as they apply to areas of management. Classroom instruction will include both large group and small group instruction with the emphasis on teamwork through small group projects. Students will learn time management skills through the completion of several long-term projects. Students combine this course with Marketing Internship and participate in the student organization. A grade of 80% or higher will earn 3 transcripted Gateway credits for course #104-101- Marketing Principles. Students prepare an individual “Honors Credit Option Plan” submitted to the instructor. An additional project and a
portfolio are required to earn Honors credit.

  • Learn by doing; help run a successful business - The Home Court
  • Emphasis is on team work through small group projects.
  • Learn about retailing, customer service, merchandising, advertising ad promotion, selling, store operations, and management.
  • Travel to New York City and meet with major corporations to learn how they market their products.
  • Participate and earn credit for a Marketing Internship while gaining practical experience in marketing related local business.
  • Prerequisite: Marketing (C or better) and Instructor Approval.
  • Open to seniors - must apply during junior year.
