POLICY FOR DETERMINING TOP ACADEMIC SCHOLARS
The Weighted Grade Point Average and Class Rank at the conclusion of the 7th semester (January of the Senior Year) is used to determine such honors as:
a.
Valedictorian
b.
Salutatorian
c.
Wisconsin Academic Excellence Scholars
d.
Tremper Top Twenty Academic students
Students who would like to be considered for any of these honors must complete all required regular level classes (P.E. I, P.E. II, P.E. III and Health) by the end of the 7th semester. The grade point average is calculated to the third place beyond the decimal point.
*In the unusual event that a “top” student needs to be exempt from a class (like P.E.), due to a medical condition, the physician’s prescription for exemption must be forwarded to Student Services. A Review Committee will meet to determine how the exempted student’s grade point average will be used so that the most fair and equitable solution for all students is implemented.
