2017-2018 Evening with the Counselor Series

#1 Applying to College—For Seniors—Class of 2018

On Tuesday, August 29th, at 6:00 pm in the Tremper Auditorium—Jeff Tarkowski, Tremper Counselor and a college representative from UW-Parkside, will present timely and vital information about “Applying to College”  Any senior who is planning on applying to a college and who wants to understand the application process would benefit from this presentation.

This presentation is especially useful for parents/guardians who, for the first time, are sending a senior to college.  Please call Student Services (359-2218) to register.  Leave your name, the name of your son/daughter, and the number of people planning to attend.  Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is preferred to insure availability of sufficient materials.

#2 Scholarships & Financial Aid: How to Finance your Education after High School—For 
Seniors—Class of 2018

On Thursday, September 14th, at 6:00 pm in the Tremper Cafeteria, Jeff Tarkowski, a Tremper counselor and a college financial aid representative will give seniors and their parents/guardians information on need and merit scholarships, grants, work study, subsidized and unsubsidized loans and the timelines for applying for about the Free Application For Federal Student Assistance (FAFSA), and the PROFILE—all types of financial aid used to fund higher education. 

Registration is suggested to ensure sufficient materials, call 359-2218.

#3 Owning My Education —For all KUSD High School Parents and Students

On Thursday, November 9th, at 6:00 pm in the Tremper  High School Auditorium, Sarah Johnson, a Tremper counselor will give information to all Kenosha Unified high school students and parents interested in learning more about what credits you need, how to figure your GPA and learn about opportunities available to you while in high school.

Registration is suggested to ensure sufficient materials, call 359-2218.

#4 ACT Ins and Outs— For Juniors and other students interested in more information regarding the ACT

On Monday, December 4th, at 6:00 pm in the Tremper Auditorium - Jenny Page, Tremper counselor,
will present information regarding the upcoming ACT to be given to all juniors at Tremper. 
She will also present general information on how to prepare for the ACT and share resources related to
the ACT. Please call Student Services (359-2218) to register.  Leave your name, the name of your
son/daughter, and the number of people planning to attend.  Walk-ins are welcome, but registration
is preferred to insure availability of sufficient materials.

#5 Advanced Placement Program—For Current Freshmen, Sophomores & Juniors planning on taking AP courses in the 2018-2019 school year (Click here for presentation)

On Tuesday, January 23th, at 6:00 pm in the Tremper Cafeteria, Terri Hujik, a Tremper counselor, will present the merits of the Advanced Placement Program which allows students to take nationally recognized college-level courses in high school AND to earn college credits by passing the AP exams in May.

#6 Sign Up for the Fall 2018  Youth Options Program—Earning College Credits while in High School—For Qualified Current Sophomores and Juniors

On Thursday, February 8th, at 6:00 pm in the Indian Trail Academy and  High School auditorium, all Kenosha Unified sophomores and juniors interested in learning more about the Youth Options Program are invited to attend an “Evening with the Counselors” presentation.  Application materials for the Fall 2018Youth Options Program will be available at this informative meeting
