Student Government Report
2008 Student Government Member present: Ashley Morgan
Ashley spoke regarding:
Diversity Circle: This event was held at the ESC and taught several students about race and stereotypes. Many students were trained and will share their information with other Tremper students.
The Big Push Food Drive: Students should bring in boxed dinner meals on Friday November 21st.
Positively Kenosha: Dr. Mangi is in support of this program to recognize people in the community who have made a positive impact. People should write a letter nominating someone who has gone above and beyond to do a good deed for another. A letter or certificate of recognition will be given to all nominees. The planning committee is still working on the details.
Blood Drive: Tremper’s annual blood drive is to be held in March. It is always one of the largest student run blood drives. More information to come.
Special Guest
Chuck Romano:
Instructional Media Consultant, Student Government Teacher Advisor, and Renaissance Teacher Advisor:
As Instructional Media Consultant, Mr. Romano maintains the Tremper website.
Parents may contact Mr. Romano if they have trouble sending or receiving emails to KUSD addresses.
Student Government: There are 217 members. At the end of the quarter 18-22 students maybe released because they are not meeting Student Government requirements. At this point additional students may be added.
Student Government also helps with Homecoming, the Craft Fair, and Spread the Spirit at the Holiday Season which is a coin collection to directly help Tremper students.
Renaissance: As advisory to the Renaissance program, Mr. Romano actively involves over 1200 Tremper students in this national program. Students must apply on their own, maintain grades, have no truancies, tardies, or suspensions, and may apply at any time throughout the year.
They will earn their academic letter for a letter jacket by:
Maintaining Premier status: GPA of 3.5 or better
Strive status: GPA of 2.5 or better
Excel Status GPA of 2.0 or better
Each quarter that they earn Premier status they earn one point. Once they have earned four points then they will earn their academic letter, and then subsequently they will earn a medal. These accomplishments may be listed on a college application or a resume since this is a national program.
The Student Government Craft Fair helps fund the cost of the letters and medals for the Renaissance Program.
The Renaissance program sponsors a pizza lunch for its members at the end of the year.
Assistant Principal’s Report: Margaret Modory
This is Mrs. Modory’s 32nd year in KUSD:
2008-Present Assistant Principal at Tremper High School
Mrs. Modory is in charge of Teaching and Learning Support. Four questions are top priority: What will Tremper teachers teach?
How will they teach?
What will be done if a student isn’t learning?
What will be done for enrichment students?
Goals: Everyone will learn no matter what?
There will be learning targets for each subject area and all teachers will have the same learning targets and expectations.
Tremper Staff Goal: By the end of the fourth quarter there will be a rubric for assessments on reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
Conferences: will be held in the new gym on December 11th.
Development of a 9th Grade Academy to help those students who feel anonymous at Tremper and help them adjust.
Landscaping: The outside of Tremper at the east entrance area needs a facelift. Kenosha Master Gardeners are often in need of projects. We can look to them or some fundraising or possibly by the PTSA to assist with this.
Traffic Patterns: The city planners talked about using a round about instead of stop signs and making 26th Ave a one way going north. More information to come.
Old Business: No report
New Business:
Parent Connect Evening: Thursday November 20th at 7pm in the Tremper Auditorium. Each parent will receive a PIN number and instructions on how to access their child’s account. If someone cannot make this evening, the information will be available at Conferences on December 11th.

Meeting Adjourned at 8:48pm.
