However anyone chooses to interpret that is fine. This could be an art project, photograph, song, poem, etc. A packet is provided by the state and the deadline is in January.
Kenosha Unified PTSA Council: Meets at 6pm at the ESC every 4th Monday of the month.
Red Ribbon Week: is this week and somehow information wasn’t communicated well to the parents.

Homecoming Coat Check is really a coat, purse, cell phone, shoes, and camera check. Everything went well with no items being lost. Many students shared bags and there were 450 bags checked. Students were polite and said thank you. Parents that volunteered for this job were not to act as disciplinarian chaperones, but coat check helpers. Plenty of staff was on hand to discipline.
Communication Report: Sandy Rende
Sandy has been sending emails to each member with the agenda and minutes to the meeting, and simply wanted confirmation that everyone was receiving the emails.
Membership Committee: Patti Ault
There are 273 members
Students of the Month The first name pulled gets the $10 gift certificate to the Home Court and the preferred parking pass, and the next two names chosen each get a $15 gift certificate to the Home Court.

Peer Mediation and Teen Court: will start soon.
Tutoring: For students by upper classmen will start after school and in advisory. Students will be chosen by teachers that have appropriate grades.
Special Guest
Kay Manderfield:
Mrs. Manderfield explained transcripts and weighted and unweighted grades. For entrance into college, most look first at: courses taken, grades, ACT/SAT score, and resumes with volunteering and involvement.
On your student’s grade report, there is an achievement grade, Final Exam grade, and a Final course Grade.
A/B class grades count on the transcript only in June and January.
A student can qualify for the National Honor’s Society with a 3.5 unweighted GPA, or a 4.8 weighted GPA, and the Honor Role with a 3.0 unweighted GPA and a 4.3 weighted GPA.
Tutoring from Carthage Students on Tuesday and Thursdays will start soon in the cafeteria from 3-4pm. This is a free tutoring program from Carthage students that are studying to become teachers.
Principal’s Report:
Homecoming went well with no incidents. The parade went well as did the fireworks. Students stayed within the district guidelines and policies. Chaperones and staff went through the crowd frequently and identified inappropriate behavior by marking the student’s hand with a black sharpie.
Anyone who was tested by a breathalyzer passed. A security video was taken and will be available for public viewing on: Thursday 10/23 at 3:30 and Monday 10/27 at 5pm.
Conferences: went well and the goal was to keep them to 3-5 minutes. December conferences will be held in the West Gym.
In November, the WKCE tests will take place on the 11th, 12th, and 13th for 10th graders. Ninth graders will take the ACT EXPLORE test. There will be several late start times for these tests for upper classman. A newsletter, phone call, and website posting will be communicated to parents.
Traffic Concerns Committee is being established.
9:00 am start time every other Wednesday for Tremper, Bradford, and ITA is still being discussed.
