Tremper Cheerleading Guidelines and Expectations

Tremper Cheerleading is a privilege to be a part of and requires a lot of dedication from everyone who is involved. As an active member, you should always give  the utmost amount of respect to all adults, people in charge, peers, and everyone around you at all times. We are all a part of this team and as a member of the team, be aware that in order for the team to be successful we must all work together.

Attendance

  • Participation in all games and practices is mandatory.
  • Any absence from class or a cheer activity that is considered "unexcused" will result in sitting with the coach in uniform during the game and not participating in any way other than supporting your team mates.
  • In order for any absence to be considered "excused," it must be prearranged at least 24 hours in advance.
  • A doctors appointment will require a signed note from your doctor.
  • If you miss a game or practice, you must make up the time in order to receive credit for the missed time.
  • Truancies and tardies from school need to be cleared with a note from the attendance office.
  • Each cheerleader is required to attend a designated number of the opposite squads games.
  • A cheerleader with any referrals will not participate in the game. If a cheerleader has received a referral, she will sit with the coach in uniform during the game.

Grades

Each cheerleader should maintain a 2.5 Grade Point Average with no failing grades. If the student falls below the minimum requirements, the student will be unable to participate until the grade is raised or the minimum is achieved.

Fundraising

All cheerleaders are expected to participate in a required number of full squad fundraisers. (Car washes, kids camps, etc.)

Practices and Games

  • Be ready at all practices with hair back, shoes for workout, no gum, good attitude and on time.
  • ATTITUDE must be positive and upbeat! You must always be willing to work and cooperate at both practices and games. Do not bring your problems with you to practices and games. The key word in your position is CHEER leader. Also, please do not come to practice when you are sick. You need to be willing to do what is necessary..... no moaning, complaining, or whining.
  • All squad members are to participate in ALL areas: making cheers & posters, creating dance routines, participating in fund raisers & pep assemblies, etc. Everyone should be given the opportunity to create. Everyone must share the workload.
  • Everyone must have a solid working knowledge of all cheers, chants, dance routines.
  • Be dedicated to the point of extra practices in areas of weakness.
  • Be an active listener and accept constructive criticism.

Game Expectations

  • JV- Arrive at designated spot 45 minutes prior to game start time. Varsity- Arrive at team dinner at designated time. If you arrive late you will sit out, in uniform, by the coach during the first half of the game.
  • Travel in school transportation when required.
  • Have complete uniform, neat & clean, at all games. If you do not have proper uniform, you will be unable to cheer. You will sit out the game beside your coach and cheer from the stands.
  • Remain in the cheering area during the game.
  • Follow the game agenda.
  • Execute chants and routines correctly.
  • Control and lead the crowd through organized cheers and chants.
  • Display correct and acceptable leadership skills. This is the LEADER part of cheerleader.
  • Do NOT socialize with players or crowd during the game.
  • Follow the captains and do not tell them what chants you want or do not want to do.
  • Follow the coach's directive at games.
  • Do NOT chew gum or eat food in uniform.
  • Perform stunts only that have been perfected. All stunts need to have the proper amount of spotters.

Lettering

  • Must attend 100 percent of games in their assigned season.
  • Must attend 95 percent of practices in their assigned season.
  • Must earn ten points through extra tasks performed. (to be done by cheerleader and/or parent)
  • Must participate in designated number of fundraisers, service projects, spirit projects, etc.
  • Awards are only given when a cheerleader completes the assigned season/s, complete uniform is returned, and all bills are paid in full.
    • Small White T- 2 seasons
    • Megaphone Patch- 4 seasons
    • Numerals- 6 seasons
    • Varsity Blue T- Varsity squad members at least 2 seasons
