Angel’s Paws is a foster based rescue located in Kenosha and runs completely on donations. This rescue is a small and often overlooked rescue, as it has no central building and isn’t advertised as publicly as the other rescues in Kenosha. It has been running for 11 years and consists of the creator of the rescue, the board, and two volunteers.
The rescue goes to Petco every other Saturday from 10 am through 2 pm with a select number of animals to pet, love, and adopt. The rescued animals come from a high kill shelter in Chicago or have bite risks in Safe Harbor and cannot be adopted out. These animals are put in Angel’s Paws care and are resocialized and worked with to the point of adoption. Not once has any animal rescued in Angel’s Paws been put down.
Angel’s Paws has rescue animals such as small dogs, cats of all ages, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, gerbils, fish, sometimes even turtles. This rescue is dying slowly though. People don’t donate as often or even realize what Angel’s Paws is. The volunteers are graduating and going into their separate fields, and the creator can only run the organization for so long alone.
So please, if you see Angel’s Paws at Petco or another event, donate. If you want a guinea pig, a dog, or a cat, rescue the animal instead of buying a certain breed that you find visually appealing. There will always be a need for animal shelters, so support as many as you can, even the small ones. Opt to adopt.
