Motivation is the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way, or the general desire or willingness of someone to do something. Everyone gets into these moods of sadness or even some might call it moods of depression. For some it is quite hard to crawl out of that hole. Here are a few tips on how to motivate yourself.

First, set the bar low. Set small and specific goals, if you complete the task and want to do more, you can always raise the bar if you’re feeling up to it. If you are feeling overwhelmed by the task chances are it’s too much for you and you should bring it down a few notches.

Second, practice self-compassion. If you beat yourself up for being unproductive and lazy you are going to keep yourself feeling like crap. Try to use encouraging words that you would for a friend or family.

Third, recruit support, or ask for help. Confide in someone you trust, and ask for their help. Fourth, make the goal to do it, not to enjoy it. When doing something do it with a goal to do it, not to enjoy it or even better enjoy it.

Lastly, acknowledge your courage for stepping out of your comfort zone. Step back and admire the work that you have done. It is quite hard for people in these “moods” to get motivated but they are or you are trying your best and you can do this.
