In Pokémon anime, Ash is a 10 year old kid that has always been 10 years old. Some people say it’s just a show which means it’s fine, but in other animes, the characters age, so why wouldn’t this one? The show has over 800 episodes and has 20 movies, at this rate he should be a lot older.
The most popular theory is that when Ash gets struck by lightning in one of the first episodes, he goes into a coma and that this is his dream. This would explain how in his dream, even though he crushes every championship and always wins, no one really knows who he is when he first meets a person. Some sub theorys say that Brock is Ash’s repressed sexuality, which makes sense is a sort of way. They also say that Gary Oak is his maturity, while he is aging outside of this coma.
Ho-oh, a legendary pokemon, is a pokemon seen in one of the first episodes of Ash’s journey. Ho-oh’s pokedex entry states, “It possesses seven-colored wings. It is said that those who see Ho-Oh are promised an eternal happiness.” Some believe Ash will only have eternal happiness if he is on a pokemon adventure for that long, therefore, he stays his age.
